Malloc();

Troubleshooting

Before you do anything, make sure that you are using the latest version of Malloc: 1.2 (version information is displayed at the top of the game window when not in fullscreen mode, and also in "Add/Remove Programs" window). If you have an older version, download the latest update and your problems will probably go away. If not, see FAQ below.

Malloc crashes with an error "Cannot write malloc.ini"

This error can occur when Malloc executable is started from a CD or a shared network folder. The game has to be able to save its configuration (such as selected difficulty, your name in multiplayer, etc) to a file (malloc.ini). Do a fresh installation of Malloc on your harddrive, and everything should work.

Videos do not play

Most likely, you don't have the XviD video codec installed properly. This codec is used by the game to display cutscenes and intro/ending movies. Get the codec from www.DivX-Digest.com.

There is an error or crash related to "dx"-something or "DirectX"

You probably don't have Microsoft DirectX 8+ software installed, which is necessary to run the game. Get DirectX at Microsoft.com

I have no more moves left, but Malloc would not end the game anyway!

There is at least one move left. This aspect of Malloc has been very thoroughly tested, and game always ends when there are no more moves. There is probably some difficult-to-see diagonal jump left that you are not seeing. Try holding down the <H> key to see a "hint" about the next move from the AI.

Malloc crashes (other then for reasons listed above)

There are several known bugs in early versions of Malloc (especially in multiplayer). If not, it's probably my bad! Please consider with a description of your problem, and I'll try to fix the problem as soon as possible.
